A police officer was “ambushed” on Wednesday after approaching a suspect who believed he was wanted in a separate shooting in Santa Monica, California, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near Santa Mónica Place, an outdoor shopping center in Los Angeles County, police said.

An officer acknowledged the alleged shooter of a bulletin searched by a shooting incident that occurred earlier this week that wounded two teenagers, said Santa Monica Police Department.
